Lt. General Ye Myin of the SPDC met KIO leaders in Laiza

Lt. General Yen Myint, chief of the States and Division Commands, the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC) along with Northern Command, General Ohn Myint arrived in Laiza (an important city located near Sino-Myanmar border where KIO headquarter is also situated) around 2:00 PM straight from Nay-Pay-Daw (New Capital of Myanmar).

Though the exact reason of the General's coming to Laiza is not clear, it is believed that the SPDC might request the Kachin Independence Organisation (KIO) to participate and collaborate in the referendum of the newly drawn constitution going to hold in May 2008.

Heavy security has been tightened in Laiza during 28  to 29 March 2008. General Ohn Myint, Northern Command and comrades spent sometime in casino, roaming around Laiza at night. The Generals left for Myitkyina around 5:00 PM as well as KIO leaders hurry-up to Nawng Nang to attend the Diamond Jubilee of the Kachin Theological College holding from 24 to 30 March 2008.
